This issu follows on from the Carrefour de l'innovation agronomique, forum dedicated to Grazing livestock : the contribution of biodiversity, from soils to landscapes event that took place on 12 December 2024 at the Institut Agro in Rennes, France. It provide an update on knowledge and feedback showing the trajectories of agroecological livestock farms that make the most of wild and domestic biodiversity and the interactions between them. The development of agroecological practices is necessary to adapt agri-food systems to climate change and its impacts, and to mitigate their environmental impact. Biodiversity has been identified as a key factor in the sustainability of farming systems in their environmental ecosystems, combining the genetic diversity of domestic species with that of wild species. This Agronomic Innovation Forum will present results on domestic biodiversity in herbivore farming and the environmental biodiversity impacted and mobilised, from the scale of soils to that of landscapes.

In 2023, FranceAgriMer launched a call for projects aimed at gathering proposals for combating beet yellows, submitted by consortia made up of research and transfer stakeholders, as part of the ongoing National Research and Innovation Plan (PNRI) to combat beet yellows. This Plan aims to find solutions to protect sugar beet crops following the withdrawal of neonicotinoids. Thanks to the joint work of fundamental and applied research, possibilities are emerging, both through prophylaxis and the identification of new curative levers. These levers, combined with each other, could limit the impact of yellowing on beets. From the identification of vector reservoirs to tested biocontrol solutions and the quantification of their benefits and limitations, this issue of the journal outlines the steps needed to ensure satisfactory and sustainable production following the withdrawal of neonicotinoids, thereby ensuring the long-term viability of this industrial sector.

This issue follows on from the Carrefour de l'innovation agronomique, forum dedicated to reducing the carbon footprint of agricultural and agri-food activities, which took place on September 19, 2024: - analyzing the trajectory of carbon footprint reduction in various activities related to agriculture and food (crops, livestock, agricultural inputs, food production) based on certain innovations - how stakeholders in agriculture and agri-food are committed to innovation aimed at carbon neutrality.

COPRAA : Knowledge and tools for preventive and operational approaches to agroecological weedy plant management

The agrifood sector encountered increasing market segmentation, with the proliferation of public and private quality claims (i.e. labels), which commit the supply chains to the building of differentiated production, processing and distribution practices. We know very little about the way in which value chains move towards agroecology, particularly for value chains with quality labels other than organic farming. From 2022 to 2023, INRAE’s Scientific Division for Agriculture conducted an exploratory project with 11 sector research groups of INRAE to analyse how differentiated supply chains are committing to agroecology. This project, entitled Agroecology and Market’, was based on desk research and interviews with over 60 actors from the interbranch organisations and different stages in agrifood chains. This introductory article presents the rationale for the project, the mission of the INRAE sector research groups and the 28 case studies selected for illustrative purposes in order to conduct this exploratory analysis in a diverse range of production and supply chain contexts.

This volume follows on from the Rencontres Francophone Légumineuses (RFL) held in March 2024, organized by CIRAD, INRAE, Terres Inovia and Terres Univia, and co-organized by the Institut Sénégalais de Recherches Agricoles (ISRA). This unique event brings together all those involved in development, the supply chains and research into grain and forage legumes. It's an opportunity to exchange views, share knowledge and accelerate innovation around legumes. The RFLs focus on seed, forage and woody legumes, and aim to cover the diversity of production systems, as well as the diversity of uses: food, feed and non-food. Pulses are a major lever for meeting the global challenges of climate change and food and nutritional security. All over the world, they play a strategic role, providing nutritional benefits and ensuring protein and food sovereignty. The many species of pulses also represent a formidable breeding ground for food innovation.

This issue follows on from the “Carrefour de l'innovation agronomique” dedicated to the results of DEPHY EXPE 2 projects - Systems using pesticides as a last resort: results and lessons from 6 years of experimentation

This issue deals with organizational innovations for the agroecological transition and sustainable agri-food systems, which took place in March 2024 at VetAgro Sup in Lempdes.

Inrae, Agreenium, GIS avenir élevages, PEPR Agroécologie et numérique and Institut Agro de Rennes Angers have organized a day to update knowledge and feedback on the trajectories of agroecological livestock farms that make the most of wild and domestic biodiversity and the interactions between them.

This issue deals with the Carrefour de l'innovation agronomique on territorial levers for reducing the use and risks associated with plant protection products - restitution des projets lauréats Ecophyto II+ Recherche et Innovation which took place on Thursday June 20, 2024 at the Ministry of Agriculture.
